Summary:
Overall responsibility for administrative support for lawyers in a specific practice group.  Works with Partners, providing assistance in lawyer work assignments, recruiting, evaluation and training of legal and other personnel.  This position will support the Practice Group in offices outside of New York, as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Development of staffing system and supervisor of the staff process:

Maintain oversight of current lawyer workloads
Monitor lawyer workloads
Ensure a fair mix of deal work
Monitor productivity

Coordinate lateral recruiting and hiring:

Work with Partners and Legal Recruiting team to define and meet hiring needs of the practice group
Ensure recruiting process has followed through

Professional Development:

Work with Partners and Director of Professional Development to meet the education needs of the practice group
Review notices of CLE and other programs and seminars specific to the practice and suggest attendance, as needed

Personnel:

Develop and implement evaluation processes that measure the specific skills of personnel in the practice group
Coordinate assistance in resolving lawyer conflicts

Client Relations:

Coordinate client entertainment programs to maintain practice development goals

Requirement

Education and/or Experience:
Required:
Associate or Bachelor degree, or Paralegal Certificate, from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
A minimum of five years' experience as paralegal or in a supervisory support position in a legal environment
Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word and Excel

Preferred:
J.D., a plus
