Overview:
We are seeking an Attorney Development Manager to join our legal operations team. Reporting to the Director of Attorney Development & Practice Management, the Attorney Development Manager will be responsible for the training, integration, and development of the Firm’s attorneys, with a primary focus on associates and staff attorneys within the assigned division or departments.

Key Responsibilities Include:
Professional Development
• Identify training needs for attorneys at all stages of practice and develop relevant training programs and curricula.
• Work with subject matter experts and potential instructors within the Firm to identify learning objectives for training sessions and to prepare appropriate content and materials.
• Develop understanding of available internal and external training resources, including relevant attorney development checklists and guidelines, and use understanding to build programs designed for Firm attorneys.
• Work with Director of Attorney Development & Practice Management and other Attorney Development Managers to build consistent cross-firm attorney programming and encourage cross-firm training and development opportunities.

Talent Management
• Manage associate and staff attorney staffing and work with division or department leadership to address staffing issues.
• Working with relevant committees and departments, manage annual performance review process for associates and staff attorneys; work closely with division and department chairs and Human Resources on identified issues.
• Working with relevant committees and departments, advance goals and strategies impacting attorney retention.
• Manage and/or participate in attorney integration to respective departments and divisions.
• Support department and division chairs in monitoring attorney hiring needs, including identifying and addressing skill gaps and resource shortages.

Our ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, skilled multi-tasker, and able to maintain a strong service orientation in a fast-paced environment. Requires ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization. Strong analytical, project management, prioritization and organization skills are expected.

Candidates should have at least five years’ relevant experience. Bachelor’s degree required; Juris Doctor degree, with background practicing law at a large firm, preferred. Experience with learning management systems, adult learning strategies, and online learning technologies required. Candidates must also have proficiency in standard business software applications such as Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams. Experience with project management tools (Smartsheet, Microsoft Planner, Microsoft Lists) a plus.
