Heather Bock Receives the 2021 PDC Richard Pearson Award

Award given to Heather in July 2022

The Professional Development Consortium, Inc. (PDC) is pleased to announce that Heather Bock of Hogan Lovells LLP is the recipient of the 2021 PDC Richard Pearson Award. Bock was selected from a pool of nominations among legal professionals across the country and recognized in front of her peers during the 2022 PDC Summer Conference in Denver.

Heather Bock serves as the Global Chief Learning Officer at Hogan Lovells LLP.  The author of two books and numerous articles on lawyer development, behavioral competencies, and leadership, Bock has contributed to innovative thinking about lawyer success since 2003.  She holds a Ph.D in Organizational Behavior and is the former Executive director of Georgetown Law’s Center on the Legal Profession where she conducted research on attributes of successful lawyers and developed a leadership course for Georgetown law students.

“Heather is well-known and well-respected within the legal profession and has been a role model to so many.  It’s truly touching to see how many people’s careers she has supported through her leadership, mentorship, and wisdom.

We are delighted to recognize Heather Bock with this award,” said Erin Walczewski, PDC Chair.

The Richard Pearson award was established in memory of Richard Pearson, long-time PDC member and board member and stalwart in the legal professional development community. Pearson, who served as Chief Learning & Development Officer at Davis Wright & Tremaine LLP, died suddenly in 2014 while rowing, one of his passions. This award is given to someone who demonstrates the qualities Pearson brought to the PDC: an innovative spirit, a demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring, and a passionate, life-long love of learning. The PDC is honored to celebrate Richard Pearson’s lasting legacy within the legal profession.
