New York

The New York group was one of the first local groups to become active, to fill the gap between PDC National Conferences.  We meet fairly regularly, usually every other month, the hosts rotating, and trying to do one out of every 3 or 4 downtown.  The host provides lunch, and organizes the program for that meeting, featuring either one of our own members, or an outside consultant.

Upcoming Events:

We are pleased to announce that our next local group meeting will take place on Tuesday September 17, at the offices of Ropes & Gray, located at 1211 Avenue of the Americas (between 47th & 48th  Streets). Thanks to Lauren DiLeonardo, and the PD team at Ropes for hosting!
Lunch will be available at 11:30 am, and the program will kick off promptly at Noon. If you plan to attend, please RSVP directly to Julie Berger:
We will hear from Marla Grant and Yuliya LaRoe, of 2020 Leadership, on: Developing Effective Leadership, Management & Business Development Training Programs for Lawyers at Different Seniority Levels
Any law firm’s success depends to a large extent on the ability of its lawyers to effectively lead, manage, and develop business. But the skills required to be a successful leader, manager and business developer are different from those to be a good lawyer. Moreover, the more senior lawyers become, the more important their leadership, management, and rainmaking skills become.
In this interactive session, experienced lawyers, trainers, and certified legal talent development coaches, Marla Grant, Esq. and Yuliya LaRoe, Esq., will:
  • Share an overview of the key leadership, management, and business development skills and capabilities lawyers must possess based on the career development competencies appropriate for their respective level of seniority (Junior, Mid-level, Senior, & Partner)
  • Provide ideas and examples for leadership, management, and business development training programming for lawyers at different levels of seniority
  • Highlight special considerations of the unique issues diverse attorneys continue to face and how to address them in training programs
  • Lead participants through an interactive exercise to help develop curriculum for several concrete training sessions
We look forward to seeing many of you there!
