Steptoe & Johnson LLP is seeking a Senior Professional Training Coordinator to join our Professional Development team in the Washington, DC office. The Senior Coordinator will be responsible for working with, and supporting, the Professional Training Committee (PTC). As the primary day-to-day contact for the PTC, the Senior Coordinator will oversee all logistics and planning for programming sponsored by the PTC. The Senior Coordinator will also work with the Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator to plan, design and implement training sponsored by the Diversity Committee and with the Recruiting Staff to plan, design and implement training programs for summer associates.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
• Work with presenters on development, design and format of practice group and professional skills training programs
• Work with Manager of Professional Training and Diversity & Inclusion to identify external speakers and presenters for training programs and become the primary contact
• Work with Manager of Professional Training and Diversity & Inclusion to identify external training opportunities for Associates, Counsel and other Legal Professionals
• Coordinate meeting and program logistics with assistance from the Professional Development and Diversity & Inclusion Assistant, including room reservations, announcements, calendar invitations, corresponding with other offices, coordinating with IT, room set-up, handouts, recording of programs, etc.
• Oversee scheduling of PTC meetings and related Working Group meetings
o Attend, take notes and actively participate in meetings
o Disseminate notes to relevant Working Group members, PTC Co-Chairs and Committee members
• Assist Manager of Professional Training and Diversity & Inclusion to develop and implement training curriculum
• Assist Manager of Professional Training and Diversity & Inclusion to develop and implement fall orientation training curriculum for new arrivals and laterals
• Work with Manager of Professional Training and Diversity & Inclusion to determine training needs based on feedback in performance evaluation files, PDC meetings, pre-and post-evaluation meetings with Practice Group Leaders and feedback through other methods
• Use program evaluation feedback to improve future programming
• Collaborate with Marketing department to create relevant materials and draft, update and maintain professional training content and resources on internet and intranet sites
• Update and maintain Outlook training calendar
• Create, monitor and maintain annual calendar and tickler system for all professional training programs
• Assist Manager of Professional Training and Diversity & Inclusion with managing professional training budget and expenses
• Supervise Professional Development and Diversity & Inclusion Assistant

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
• Strong work ethic, high professional standards and personal motivation
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with lawyers, managers and staff at all levels of seniority
• Willingness to perform substantive administrative tasks with diligence and accuracy
• Creative and thoughtful self-starter with excellent attention to detail and project management skills
• Demonstrated success in designing and implementing training programs and events
• Demonstrated interest in law firm professional training and attorney development
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Three to five years’ experience working in a law firm or other professional service environment
• Professional training experience preferred
