Senior Legal Recruiting Manager

As a member of the Firmwide Legal Recruiting and Development Department (“LRD”), the Senior Legal Recruiting Manager for the Houston office will provide strategic direction and implementation for campus and summer attorney recruiting at the local office level, while executing FW initiatives and strategy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

Campus Recruiting
• Manage all aspects of the Houston office’s law student recruiting efforts, including on-campus interviews, callbacks, offer dinners, 1L hiring, 1L recruiting events and campus outreach activities.
• Manage all administrative aspects involved in on-campus and entry level recruiting, including registering for on-campus interviewing programs, job fairs, and student outreach events. Maintain a calendar of events.
• Oversee and implement all aspects of the Summer Associate Program, including planning and attending summer associate events, managing work assignments and the review process.
• Build deep and strategic relationships with Career Services professionals, law student groups and affinity groups to advance the Firm’s recruiting strategies.
• Brainstorm new and creative ways to strength ties with key schools
• Maintain candidate files for all open positions and all active candidates.
• Act as a “Brand Ambassador” to help raise the profile of the Kirkland & Ellis brand within the Houston legal market.
• Coach and manage team of Houston recruiting professionals and work collaboratively with other Texas office and firmwide recruiting and development leads.

New Attorney Orientation
• Assist with facilitation of the new associate fall orientation program.

Administrative Responsibilities
• Direct attorney and summer associate on-boarding, including development of local and Firmwide orientation programs.
• Prepare annual goals and budget.
• Review and approve attorney recruiting expenses.
• Attend regular FW Legal Recruiting team calls and provide necessary metrics, reports, and FW project outcomes as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Work Experience, Skills
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of seven (7) years of management experience in a law firm or professional service industry, preferably with strategic recruitment and professional development experience. Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills, supervisory, and communication skills, project management and change management experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The ability to work effectively with all levels of management, and across all Kirkland departments and offices, is required. Familiarity with survey and statistical reporting is required.

Technologies/Software
Computer proficient with knowledge and understanding of various database systems including viDesktop, Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

• This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
