The Cleveland office of Benesch is looking to add a Professional Development Manager to our growing team. Under the direction of the Chief Talent Officer, the Professional Development Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the Firm’s professional development programs for attorneys, including practice group specific training programs, all associate training programs, the Firm’s mentoring program, Firm-wide leadership development initiatives, and individual development plans. This position will be a resource for associates, and will be a highly visible role, interacting with Firm leadership regularly.

Essential Functions:

1. Manages, plans, and coordinates all training and development initiatives for attorneys.
2. Works closely with Practice Group Chairs (PDC’s) and Chief Talent Officer (CTO) to develop comprehensive practice group specific curriculum, tied to skills matrices that provide clear development paths for Associates within each practice group.
3. Identifies, engages, and works closely with outside resources to deliver high-quality PD programs, to be used in conjunction with in-house resources.
4. Manages Firm-wide mentoring program, including mentee/mentor assignments, communication of roles/responsibilities, and program description and continued program enhancement.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.


At least five years of experience in professional development training and/or organizational development in a law firm. Must possess the ability to work with a team of highly-skilled professionals in situations that require diplomacy and confidentiality. Able to act in a professional manner at all times. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of learning management systems such as CE Manager. Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure with interruptions and tight deadlines required. Must possess excellent organization, verbal and written communication skills, and a service attitude. Must possess a passion to learn and think outside the box. A proactive approach to job tasks and an ability to work independently with minimal oversight at times required. Ability to travel to other Firm offices (10-15%) and annual conferences as required.
