About the Job:

K&L Gates is seeking a Professional Development Manager to work in collaboration with the entire global PD team, practice area leaders, and business department directors and allied professionals to develop and drive holistic training initiatives. The PD Manager will be involved in all facets of lawyer and allied professionals PD efforts. Candidates must be self-starters who possess the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with the team. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing the highest quality client service are paramount.

Responsibilities:

Development and implementation of significant portions of the K&L Gates firm-wide Professional Development curricula in cooperation with Practice Area Leaders, including practice specific training;
Designing and implementing e-learning programs and technologies to serve internal clients as well as external constituencies;
Assisting with the development and coordination of firm-wide Professional Development programs for summer associates and serving as the main coordinator for local office summer programs in cooperation with recruiting personnel and local office administrators;
Assisting with the development and coordination of the Thrive at K&L Gates First Year curriculum and First Year orientation programs;
Working closely with Legal Recruiting, Client Growth, HR, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and other teams to create focused training programs and initiatives to elevate the holistic development of our lawyers and Allied Professionals, and to increase the internal profile of the Professional Development Department;
Monitoring local office Professional Development budgets as needed;
Overseeing local office administration of tasks such as approval of outside CLE requests, Bar Memberships, CLE compliance tracking, Mentoring, etc;
Contributing to the planning and execution of firm-wide Professional Development events such as the First Year Academy, Global Associate Symposium, practice-based retreats, and other events as needed;
Working with outside consultants to tailor training programs to meet specific firm needs.

Requirements:

Minimum 5 years of professional development/training experience within the legal industry or professional services firm or relevant practice experience.
Innovative thinker; creative problem solver; excellent interpersonal, team, and verbal and written communications skills; works effectively and collaboratively at all levels.
Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects at once, realign priorities as needed, and drive projects to successful completion.
BA/BS required.
JD preferred or MS in Education, Organizational Development, or related field.
Willingness/ability to work outside of standard business hours as needed.
Willingness/ability to travel to other office locations as needed.
A solid knowledge of the MCLE rules is a plus.
The candidate should demonstrate a proven ability to multi-task, plan, organize and prioritize work; work independently and as part of a team; and to build effective relationships with lawyers and allied professionals.
