Cooley is seeking a Professional Development Coordinator to join the Professional Development team.

Position summary: The Professional Development Coordinator will be part of a team at Cooley dedicated to developing the substantive legal skills of the next generation of Cooley lawyers. The Professional Development Coordinator will be part of a team of professionals working with practice groups across the Firm to implement legal skills training and ensure compliance with Continuing Legal Education (CLE) and other regulatory requirements for all Firm lawyers.

Position Responsibilities
Coordinate virtual and in-person legal training programs and practice group meetings across offices, including scheduling, room reservations and set up, invitations, catering and AV details, review and revision of materials, on-site and/or virtual coordination, and trouble shooting
Assist the Director of Legal Education and Managers of Legal Education in identifying training needs and developing legal training curricula and programs
Work with internal and external presenters to develop and deliver effective training programs.
Assist with creating training videos and written materials
Review feedback from legal training programs and suggest improvements
Act as a liaison and resource for, and actively engage with, attorneys across the Firm to ensure training needs are appropriately met
Actively engage with other administrative departments in the Firm to ensure effective delivery of legal training programs including legal talent, diversity and inclusion, marketing, IT, facilities, accounting and finance, e-discovery and paralegal services, and research services
Assist with creating and implementing legal training policies and procedures
Maintain firmwide legal training calendars and legal training files
Keep abreast of trends in legal training and major practice area developments
Assist with updating the Firm’s Learning Management System and relevant CooleyNet webpages with training materials
Provide on-site support during Firm events, conferences, and other training programs (room setup, handouts, preparing materials, etc.)
Assist Director of Attorney Licensing and Compliance and team, as required
Attend department and other administrative meetings
Assist with budget planning and monitoring
Proofread own and other’s work with attention to detail and accuracy consistently following standardized rules of language regarding spelling, punctuation, grammar, word usage, and sentence structure
Required

Skills & experience :
2+ years experience working within Legal Talent/ HR/ Training and Development within law firms or professional services organizations
Preferred
Bachelor's Degree
Sound knowledge of adult learning theories
Usage of learning technologies and management systems such as CE Manager
Competencies
Good personal effectiveness (time management, prioritization and organization, problem solving)
Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal effectively with all levels in the firm, including partners
Ability to integrate as part of a wider team as well as work independently
Ability to work independently without supervision and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments, as well as delegate tasks to support departments when necessary
Possess excellent written, communication and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail and presentation
Ability to function in a professional and polite manner when dealing with clients, co-workers and others.
