Calibrate Legal has been retained by Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP to recruit a Practice Manager for their Leveraged Finance practice group to be based in the firm’s New York office. The Practice Manager will work with the Practice Group Head and Partners to oversee the business operations of the group and serve as a primary liaison to other practice groups.

We are seeking an experienced legal talent development or learning and development professional to be an integral member of the Leveraged Finance group. This individual will manage and enhance the workflow and staffing of matters for the group. Ongoing attorney and professional development are essential, and the Practice Manager will be responsible for supporting the ongoing development of associates. In addition, the Practice Manager will be responsible for aligning business and practice group priorities including developing agendas and coordinating practice group meetings.

The ideal candidate will be a highly effective communicator with demonstrated strengths in strategic planning, building relationships and establishing trust, and working collaboratively with others on the team and across the firm. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a successful track record of supporting high-performing teams by: (1) understanding group and individual development needs; (2) leveraging relationships and effective processes to achieve results; and (3) effectively navigating in a dynamic office culture where priorities shift to meet changing business needs.

To be considered for the position, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree. A JD or graduate degree in a relevant discipline (i.e., business administration, organizational development, human resources) is preferred. Candidates must have over five years of relevant experience as a manager or director within a professional services industry, preferably a large law firm. Industry experience with Leveraged Finance or other corporate transactional practice is preferred, but not required. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a client-service focus, and be an adept project manager.
