Calibrate Legal has been retained by Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP to recruit a Practice Manager for their Capital Markets practice group to be based in the firm’s New York office. The Manager will work with the Practice Group Head and Partners to oversee the business operations of the group and serve as a primary liaison to other practice groups.

We are seeking an experienced legal practice group management professional to be an integral member of the Capital Markets group. The Practice Manager will play a critical role in managing the administration and operations of the Capital Markets practice group. This role requires strong business and project management skills and an entrepreneurial spirit. Other responsibilities include the following: assisting the Practice Group Head in the day-to-day administration of the group; serving as a trusted confidant for attorneys; monitoring strategic plan implementation; managing workflow and staffing allocation; developing practice group agendas and coordinating practice group meetings; managing ongoing attorney and professional development; budgeting and financial analysis for the practice group; proactively facilitating cross-practice communications; and frequent collaboration with other business services teams to facilitate ongoing support for the practice group.

The ideal candidate will be a highly effective communicator with demonstrated strengths in strategic planning, building relationships and establishing trust, and working collaboratively with others on the team and across the firm. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a successful track record of supporting high-performing teams by: (1) understanding group and individual development needs; (2) leveraging relationships and effective processes to achieve results; and (3) effectively navigating in a dynamic office culture where priorities shift to meet changing business needs.

To be considered for the position, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree. A JD or graduate degree in a relevant discipline (i.e., business administration, organizational development, human resources) is preferred. Candidates must have over five years of relevant experience as a manager or director within a professional services industry, preferably a large law firm. Industry experience with Capital Markets or other corporate transactional practice is preferred, but not required. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a client-service focus, and be an adept project manager.
