Assist Director of Practice & Client Development (“Director”) and Specialist (“PDS”) in all aspects of management of practice group through the provision of marketing, business development, knowledge management, lateral attorney integration, financial analysis, training and logistical support. Primarily assist with the support of the Technology, Media & Telecommunications (“TMT”) practice group. Assist Director, PDS, Practice Group Leader(s), and other attorneys and professional staff in the implementation of group strategic and business plans within the context of overall firm strategy, including assisting in cross-practice coordination. Act as a liaison to administrative functions regarding group support needs. Contribute to the overall success of practice group performance.


Assist Director and PDS with:
1. Practice group business development initiatives, including client presentations, responses to RFPs, and pitches.

2. Maintaining system to track all practice group specific business development initiatives. Manage input of practice group data into firm wide experience and business development databases.

3. Compile monthly internal newsletter outlining all business development activity for the prior month, as well as information on upcoming events.

4. Practice group client alerts, including coordination of PG sign-off and selection of marketing mailing lists.

5. Regular practice group alert tracking and review of firm-wide client alert analytics.

6. Developing legal rankings submissions and tracking submission information from year-to-year.

7. Basic research and data collection.

8. Reviewing monthly budget reports for tracking of expenses and proper classification. Assist with year-end budgeting process.

9. Maintain updates to all appropriate practice group intranet and other internal knowledge management pages (including posting of news, articles, case law, training materials or other relevant information).

10. Coordinate and assist in facilitation of internal meetings and events including scheduling, agenda preparation and logistical support.

11. Coordinate and assist in facilitation of external meetings, conferences and events including scheduling, agenda preparation, invitation process and logistical support.


An undergraduate degree.

A background in business, legal services or equivalent experience is desirable.

Project management and organizational skills.

Ability to identify and solve problems, work independently, and take initiative.

Ability to compile, review and determine logical conclusions or recommendations based on data and information that is varied in content and format.

Strong oral communication skills.

Strong attention to detail.

Strong writing skills.

Demonstrated ability to effectively use technology, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software.

Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with people at all levels.

Ability to establish credibility with Ropes & Gray attorneys and professional staff, to bring to bear the right mix of confidence, tact and persistence in working with the firm’s lawyers and professional staff.
