Leadership
• Establishing a strategic ‘business partner’ relationship with the PGL and the Practice Leaders and working in close collaboration with the other Global Business Services leads, including Head of Marketing & BD and Business Management, Senior Business Manager, Senior Finance Business Manager, and other senior stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives and deliver on operational targets.
• Support the Leadership Team and specifically the Associate Retention and Development Lead; the Elevation Lead; and the Diversity and Inclusion Lead to achieve their strategic goals.
• Active participant in the GR&IPMT Leadership and Practice Area Leader meetings.
• Coaching practice leaders and partners on leadership skills and on building high performing teams.
• Developing an understanding of the global business environment within which the practice operates, in order to provide appropriate advice and align people strategy with business strategy.

Talent management
• Lead on and ensure successful implementation and completion of global cyclical processes, such as: the performance review and feedback processes; annual partner and counsel elevation processes, partner conversations and partner 360s, and capacity management.
• Coordinate with the local Legal HR/Advisory teams to provide professional support and advice to the Practice on ongoing local matters such as: employee relations issues, performance management, salary and bonus reviews, senior associate advancement process, international secondments, and interpreting and applying policy.
• Provide thought leadership on and support practice area development programs including talent management conversations, career development plans, and morale initiatives.
• Work in close collaboration with the Global People, Talent Management, Culture and Change team, Diversity & Inclusion team, Learning & Development team and other senior stakeholders to ensure that programs are implemented both consistently among the practice groups globally and aligned with the Practice Group strategic goals.
• Ensure a coordinated talent management approach for the non-partner track associates and other “attorney level” specialists (including Patent Agents and Regulatory Specialists).

People development
• Support and drive global coordination and collaboration among associate, counsel, and specialists (including but not limited to the Senior Associate Steering Committee and the Counsel Forum).
• Advises and coaches associates and counsel on career development opportunities, career paths and business plans. Participates in advancement preparation.
• Work closely with the people development teams on coordination of leadership and development programs; and participating in and facilitating lawyer development programs as required.
• Works closely with the Diversity & Inclusion team to support the retention and promotion of underrepresented attorneys and other professionals.

Management and Organization
• Supervise and support regional and practice People support who have dotted-line reporting into the role.
• Support communication strategy including draft communications for the PGL and contribute substantively to town halls and other internal facing meetings.
• Review recruiting priorities on the non-partner level (in the US) and advise on hiring decisions.
• All members of the firm are expected to participate in our Global
Citizenship program.
• Other duties as assigned.
