Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, a leading national law firm, seeks a Director of Attorney Recruitment and Development.

This is a national position; this position is open and may be located in any Hinshaw office. Under the leadership of the Chief Human Resources Officer, Managing Partner, and the Chairs of Attorney Recruitment and Development, the position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Firm's attorney recruitment and development functions, including supervising assigned department staff. The Director of Attorney Recruitment & Development will focus on the lateral partner, lateral group recruitment, and lateral partner integration in alignment with the Firm's strategic growth plan. The Director will also focus on associate evaluations, compensation, and bonus programs. The Director is expected to serve as a positive role model and mentor and perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the Firm's attorneys and staff, efficient and effective departmental operations, and an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement.

Essential Job Functions:
Direct the attorney recruitment process, including:
• Oversee recruiting staff in all aspects of Firmwide lateral associate hiring and summer associate hiring
• Design and implement a strategic firmwide lateral partner recruitment plan, including identifying growth practices and offices, engaging preferred recruiters, and targeting candidates
• Create and maintain positive and effective relationships with recruiting firms and other candidate sources.
• Update the lateral partner interview committee and interview process
• Support Mansfield Rule 5.0 efforts
• Oversee all administrative aspects of lateral partner hiring firmwide, including due diligence completion; conflicts check, compensation package design, and pipeline updates
• Conduct lateral partner orientations and oversee onboarding of new partners firmwide
• General recruiting administration, including applicant tracking, maintaining statistics on new hires, managing hiring trends, and continually improving processes and procedures
• The Director will be a member of the HR team and work closely with other HR functions, including Diversity & Inclusion, to help develop recruitment and retention methodologies that support and advance the Firm's diversity commitment and goals.
• Meet regularly with the recruiting staff for updates on lateral associate and summer associate hiring firmwide
• Direct the firmwide associate compensation increase and bonus process
Direct professional development efforts including:
• Design and implement a strategic long-term lateral partner integration plan
• Oversee the Attorney Recruitment & Development team in administering the associate evaluation process
• Work with the Attorney Recruitment & Development team, Professional Development Partner, and the Planning Committee to support Hinshaw U (firmwide CLE programming), Basic Skills (new hire annual training), and Trial Advocacy Programs
• Work with the Attorney Recruitment & Development team to design and implement training programs based on partner and associate needs
• Proactively respond to changing training and development needs both internally and externally.
• Supervise the Attorney Recruitment & Development team in carrying out all responsibilities of the Attorney Recruitment and Development functions.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
• Minimum 7-10 years professional attorney recruitment experience for summer, entry-level, lateral associates, and lateral partners
• Minimum four years of professional development experience organizing training for attorneys.
• Minimum five years in a supervisory role with the ability to grow and manage a strong team
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of responsibility
• Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build rapport and trust with attorneys and staff at all levels of the organization.
• Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines while handling multiple priorities; ability to work well under pressure and maintain a positive attitude.
• Technology skills including knowledge of applicant tracking systems, viDesktop, and CLE tracking software; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• A demonstrated ability and strong desire to work as part of a team in a demanding, collegial, client-centered legal services environment.
• A College degree in a relevant field of study is required Juris Doctor, a plus.
