Shearman & Sterling LLP seeks a highly motivated individual with excellent attention to detail to coordinate and implement professional development initiatives for lawyers and business services professionals. The Professional Development Coordinator reports to the Senior Manager of Professional Development.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Coordinate training programs, conferences, and workshops, including: scheduling, drafting invitations and other communications, attendance tracking, preparing materials, coordination with conference services, catering, technology, etc.
Accredit NY, CA, and TX CLE courses and maintain course materials and attendance records as required by CLE rules
Update and maintain the firm’s MCLE tracking database, CE Manager
Plan associate social and morale events
Research best practices for new firm initiatives designed to enhance employee development and retention
Assist with the firm’s e-learning related initiatives such as HotShot Legal, Pratising Law Institute (PLI), Rosetta Stone foreign language learning program, and others
Build rapport with associates and Business Services personnel
Assist with the lawyer performance review process
Collaborate with the broader Legal Talent and HR teams on initiatives and projects
Assume other responsibilities as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Knowledge of CE Manager and familiarity with the NY, CA and TX MCLE rules preferred
Proactive, detail-oriented, and organized
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to handle and prioritize multiple assignments while working under pressure with tight deadlines
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise a high standard of judgment and discretion
Excellent interpersonal and client service skills

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
2+ years of professional development or other similar experience in a law firm or professional services organization

Physical Activity/Other Miscellaneous:
Flexibility to work overtime or outside of standard business hours as required
Ability to lift and carry up to 15 lbs
