The specialist is responsible for working with legal project managers, attorneys and support staff to implement legal project management principles and tools to maximize efficiencies in delivering legal services and optimize communication, teaming, budget set up and monitoring. The specialist must be an enthusiastic advocate for the implementation of best practices and legal project management principles. An ability to work with other departments within the firm in support of these objectives will be critical.

1.Works with legal project managers on large client engagements to ensure that client expectations are met, facilitate team communications, monitor costs, maximize efficiencies and use tools and templates to plan, monitor and capture key information.
2.Serves as a resource to partners and associates for guidance and assistance by preparing budgets, pulling and organizing historical information to compile estimates, and using matter specific tracking tools.
3.Analyzes and interprets financial information. Undertakes in-depth analysis of specific work types based on historical data. Continuously builds on understanding of legal matters in different practice areas.
4.Analyzes information so as to report to partners and senior associates. Raises issues and makes suggestions about ways to adjust budgets based on report results.
5.Engages paralegals, litigation support and other staff to plan and organize streamlined and cost effective support as appropriate; recommends process improvements where appropriate.
6.Shares organizational forms and templates and encourages use of them as appropriate on other matters. Collaborates with support staff in the development and integration of templates and tools into their ongoing matters.
7.Collaborates with support staff across the firm to identify best practices and resolve issues.

•Able to maintain strict confidentiality of the firm's internal and personnel affairs and client information. Understands ethics of position including ethical rules in regards to confidentiality, billing and client representation and advocacy.
•Collaborates effectively and professionally with clients and all levels of the organization, including attorneys, coworkers and administrators. Possesses strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate to attorneys and staff. Able to manage and lead teams.
•Able to influence all levels of the organization. Can effectively convey solutions to teams and related support personnel, explaining results within a legal project management framework and achieving buy-in from matter teams.
•Must be a proactive, self-starter who understands the details and can integrate them into a much larger context. Must deliver high quality work and have the ability to follow up and follow through.
•Must be flexible in order to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities. Able to work under tight deadlines, handle multiple, detailed tasks simultaneously, prioritize appropriately and delegate to resources available.
•Must be able to anticipate problems and issues and exercise independent judgment to make sound, justifiable decisions and take action in solving problems while knowing when and to whom to escalate issues.
•Strong Excel skills required.
•Able to effectively work in a multi-office environment and a culturally and educationally diverse environment.
•Must be team-oriented and able to share information, goals, opportunities, successes and failures with the appropriate parties.
•Must be flexible and available for travel.


A bachelor's degree from a top-ranked institution and five or more years of professional services experience is required. A strong project management orientation is critical. The position requires highly developed organization, writing, analytical, presentation and communication skills.
