Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking an Attorney Recruiting & Development Coordinator to join a dynamic team comprised of individuals who strive to provide a high level of client service in every aspect of their responsibilities and who are inspired to work together to develop innovative, first-of-class recruiting and development practices.

The position can reside in either the New York or Washington, DC office and under the general supervision and direction of the Director of Legal Personnel & Development and the Manager of Attorney Recruiting - Firmwide, the Attorney Recruiting and Development Coordinator is responsible for working with the team in regard to all aspects of the firm’s attorney recruiting and development functions. These include legal personnel, law student and lateral recruitment, the annual Summer Associate Program, and professional development for associates and counsel. The Attorney Recruiting and Development Coordinator is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm’s attorneys, advisors and business services, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

Legal Personnel – under the supervision of the Director of Legal Personnel & Development

In collaboration with the Legal Personnel & Development team and other Business Services groups, coordinate and support the annual lawyer/advisor evaluation process.
Help manage the firm’s real-time performance feedback system, Akin Thrive, to provide attorneys with ongoing feedback to further professional development.
Compile and analyze statistical information and create necessary reports to assist with various information requests and surveys.
Assist the Director of Legal Personnel with quarterly exit interview analysis for practice groups and senior leaders.
In collaboration with the Legal Personnel team and other Business Services groups, coordinate the attorney compensation and bonus process.
In collaboration with the Recruiting and Development team, support and coordinate the onboarding and orientation program for the first year associates.
Support the design and implementation of major professional development programs including New Associate Academy, Mid-Level Academy and New Counsel Academy.
Support the re-design efforts and implementation of new Recruiting and Development pages on AG Connect.
With support from the firmwide assistant, serve as the primary liaison with Firm IT in the ongoing technical support of the firm’s attorney development software applications and peripherals.
Attorney Recruiting – under the supervision of the Manager of Attorney Recruiting - Firmwide

Support the collection and analysis of firmwide recruiting data, and develop best practices to maximize use of the recruiting database in this process.
With support from the firmwide assistant, serve as the primary liaison with Firm IT in the ongoing technical support of the firm’s attorney recruiting software applications and peripherals.
Oversee updates to the back-end (configuration) of viRecruit and other department databases. Update template letters and signatures as directed, configure the summer associate work allocation databases, and facilitate the bulk resume upload during OCI.
Coordinate updates to firmwide recruiting materials including annual reports and surveys, and distribution of information to the local offices.
Provide support on-campus during student recruiting seasons as needed and serve as an ambassador for firmwide recruiting efforts.
Coordinate the implementation of the Firmwide IP, Strauss Diversity & Inclusion and Pro Bono Scholars Program recruiting efforts.
Participate in scheduled Attorney Recruiting & Development conference calls and meetings.
Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of three years of experience in legal recruiting in a law firm or similar setting
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook and Excel. Experience in working with ViDesktop and attorney recruiting databases required.
Strong service orientation and an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers; attorneys; office, firm and practice management; and outside business partners
Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure
Ability to manage multiple projects with specific deadlines and adjust to changing priorities in a professional manner
