Job Summary
The Professional Development Manager - Attorney (PD Manager) will be involved in all facets of attorney professional development, including career development, mentoring, and other skill development programs that support the professional development and career success of Jackson Lewis attorneys at all levels, in collaboration with the Senior Director of Professional Development and other members of the Professional Development Team. The PD Manager will contribute to the design, development, and delivery of training content, materials, and management of attorney talent development initiatives that go beyond legal education and develop the whole lawyer to be the best in class.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assess attorney talent development needs firmwide in collaboration with the Senior Director of Professional Development.
Design and develop new training courses and PD programming for attorneys at different career development stages at all levels throughout the firm, as well as review and update current curriculum for attorney skill development in such areas, for example, as leadership, management, mentoring and teamwork, DEI education, client service and business development, presentation skills, creative problem solving, innovation, and design thinking, in partnership with the PD team and key stakeholders.
Develop synchronous and asynchronous learning platforms including online and offsite workshops, live instructor-led classroom and self-directed learning formats.
Recommend ideas for mentoring program implementation, program enhancements, discussion topics, training and resources. Works in conjunction with Human Resources and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion teams on initiatives that foster a diverse and inclusive culture, promote overall engagement, and develop the whole lawyer to be the best in class.
Contribute to other PD initiatives and complete special projects on various issues as needed.
Skills and Educational Requirements:
The successful PD Manager must be solution-driven and have outstanding project management skills demonstrated across multiple locations, cultures, and matrixed organizations, strong knowledge of and proven proficiency in adult learning, and a proven ability to create and deliver high-level training courses that incorporate experiential learning activities to meet the needs and culture of the audience.
The candidate should also demonstrate:

• Ability to teach and support other faculty in delivering effective training programs.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational, interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.

• Thinks creatively about new ideas/concepts and solutions to existing challenges; expresses opinions about creative choices and strategic decisions.

Education/Certifications:
Bachelors’ degree is required, JD or Masters in relevant field is highly preferred.
8 to 10 years of attorney professional development experience required. Teaching experience highly preferred.
Significant experience in a large law firm is preferred. Demonstrated success establishing, developing, and managing robust career development functions in a national or multi-office environment is a plus
Familiarity with learning management systems, adult learning techniques and online learning technologies a plus.
