Summary

The Assistant – Professional Development, will provide support to the Legal Education and Training (LET) team and assist in the logistical planning of all aspects of the Firm’s educational programs, including summer associate training, new associate orientation, S&C Academy programs, Professional Development department core curriculum, senior level training, practice group lunches, and client training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Training Programs: Assist LET team in executing all Firm training curricula. Handle outreach for upcoming trainings and communicate with subject matter experts; implement updates to training materials, including to reflect changes in training format or approach, comments and suggestions from program evaluations, and presenter comments; coordinate logistics, including managing invitations and evaluations, copying and distributing training materials and interfacing with relevant internal departments, such as conference services, library, media, etc. across all Firm offices. Assist attorneys with processing of reimbursements related to training programs.

CLE Compliance: Attend programs and assist with procedures for CLE-eligible training programs and practice group lunches, including gaining a working understanding of NY CLE rules, monitoring attendance sheets, preparing teleconference codes, taking timed agendas, and processing paperwork for both internal and external CLE programs. Assist with attorney compliance and registration reminders, testing and publishing of recorded programs, updating of training calendar and other web-based department resources.

Mentoring Programs & Career Development Planning: Assist in preparation of associate Career Development Plans and in the associate advisor assignment process by providing administrative support; monitor frequency of advisor communication to ensure that there is an adequate level of interaction and that program and individual career objectives are being met.

Special Projects: Handle special requests from partners and members of the Legal Talent Office team on an ad-hoc basis. Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

Candidate must be a self-starter with excellent attention to detail, capability to issue-spot, strong organizational skills, and independent sense of follow-through to carry tasks through completion without prompting. Must be a careful proofreader, detail oriented, willing to learn, creative, and flexible. Professional demeanor in person, in written communications, and on the phone. Superior judgment and interpersonal skills. High proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint); knowledge of Micron, viDesktop or equivalent LMS preferred. Proficient at multitasking, prioritizing, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Education and/or Experience
College degree required. Two or more years of experience working in law firm or equivalent professional environment a plus.
